Why God Takes Away What We've Mismanaged

It's a common misconception that when bad things happen to good people, it's because God is punishing them. However, that's not always the case. Sometimes, bad things happen to good people because they've mismanaged what they've been given.
Let's say, for example, that you're given a car by your parents. They trust you to take care of it and use it wisely. But instead of doing that, you decide to joyride with your friends and end up getting into an accident. The car is totaled and you're left with a huge repair bill. In this instance, it's not God who has taken away your car—it's you. You mismanaged what you were given, and now you have to suffer the consequences.
Or let's say that you're given a credit card by your parents with the agreement that you'll only use it for emergencies. But instead of using it wisely, you go on a spending spree and rack up a huge bill. Once again, it's not God who has taken away your credit card—it's you. You mismanaged what you were given, and now you have to suffer the consequences.
So next time something bad happens and you find yourself asking "Why me, God?" remember that it might not be punishment from Him—it might just be the natural consequence of your own poor choices. Always think carefully about how you use what you've been given, and remember that with great power comes great responsibility. That way, you can avoid making the same mistakes twice.
