People pleasers are some of the most well-meaning people in the world. They want everyone around them to be happy, and they'll go to great lengths to make that happen. However, there's a big problem with being a people pleaser: it's simply not sustainable. Here's why you should never become a people pleaser.
1. You'll Never Be Good Enough for Everyone
As a people pleaser, you're constantly trying to live up to other peoples' expectations. The problem is that no one is ever going to be completely satisfied with you. There will always be someone who thinks you could have done more, or who wishes you had done things differently. Trying to please everyone is an impossible task, and it's one that will only lead to frustration and disappointment.
2. You'll Constantly Be Exhausted
People pleasers are always on the go, trying to make everyone around them happy. This can be incredibly draining, both mentally and physically. If you're constantly putting other peoples' needs above your own, you're going to end up burnt out and exhausted. It's important to take time for yourself every now and then, or else you'll quickly find yourself overwhelmed and unable to keep up the pace.
3. You'll Miss Out on What YouWant
In your never-ending quest to please others, it's easy to lose sight of what you want in life. If you're always saying "yes" to others and "no" to yourself, you're going to end up missing out on opportunities and experiences that could make you truly happy. It's okay to put yourself first sometimes, and it's even okay to say "no" once in awhile. Don't be afraid to stand up for what you want—you deserve it!
